Core Architectural Invariants

QueueKind provides mathematical operational integrity for high-turnover counters.

🔒 Atomic
Call-Next Transaction

Locks queue day and operator before allocating earliest sequence. Two chairs can never call the same ticket simultaneously.

📺 Zero-PII
Allowlisted TV Projection

Public counter monitors render only sequence numbers and chair labels. Customer names, phones, or notes never leave the private API.

⚖️ Honest
Tail Requeue Invariant

Requeueing a no-show assigns a brand new tail sequence number, preserving queue fairness for on-time customers.

📝 Offline
Graceful Paper Fallback

Internet dropouts fall back to manual paper numbering. When restored, staff records manual serves as distinct historical events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Real-world operational questions answered for shop owners and counter staff.

How does QueueKind handle internet outages?

Disconnected devices cannot reliably issue a shared digital sequence. Staff simply pulls out paper tickets. When internet recovers, staff records the manual count as a distinct historical entry rather than backdating digital claims.

Can customers without smartphones join the queue?

Yes. Staff can issue a staff-assisted walk-in ticket from the counter console and hand the customer a printed number slip.

Can two barbers call the same customer at once?

No. The next-ticket allocator transaction locks the queue day and operator before allocating the earliest waiting ticket. Simultaneous calls from Chair 1 and Chair 2 will cleanly allocate consecutive tickets (#103 and #104).

Why doesn't the TV display show customer names?

Privacy is paramount in public shops. Public displays strictly allowlist sequence numbers and operator chair names only. Customer names and contact data are never exposed.
